euroversity.eu Poster @ i-ED

We have a very nice participation at the 4th European Immersive Education Summit 24-26.11. in Vienna. It's a small but very high quality audience. A lot of studies with "hard science" (high number of field test participants, real statistical insights) in using 3D in learning. Great speakers, promising future.

Virtual World Best Practices in Education 2013

Jeweils ca. 40 Teilnehmer, viele Fragen, viel Diskussion - was will man mehr?

War wieder sehr nett in Graz - das FH Johanneum organisiert jedes Jahr einen interessanten Tag - Danke Jutta! Ich durfte dort unsere Schul-Aktivitäten präsentieren: "Learning experiences in virtual worlds in schools, including formative assessment methods to create feedback for learners and educators with the NEXT-TELL project"

Eduverse Symposium

Some very interesting tracks here

* David Williamson Shaffer introduces http://www.eduverse.org

* David Burden from Daden mentioned a XML markup language to notate learning scenarious they did opensource. Will be interesing to follow up on this

* Reinder Rustema wants to integrate the http://emocracy.nl project into virtual worlds - this might be useful as a framework tool for education as well - think about all the rating and what people care about ...

.. the community using Virtual Worlds is growing but still fights with some technical glitches (like >>audio<<) - seems we are not too far off with our experiences

Here the talk I gave:

Online Educa 2007

Hi there - a brief impression from the OnlineEduca in Berlin. A conference worth attending!

  • the 3D topic still rocks. The session I spoke on was packed full - over 100, people sitting on the floor,

  • Back to reality - moodle still rulez,

  • Some interesting other LMS are there like the OLAT platform from Zurich - as it seems many Universities like to grow their own individual system,

  • there is still a big gap between thinks available and those which are implemented right now. The main construction site is still the organizational resistance to change. Organisations need time to change and be able to utilize the benefits of new freedoms.

  • Many focus on language learning, it seems to be in demand (and not too hard to do). Expensive is still the content creation. To me it seems with IP as it is today makes transactions (identifying the right holder of a content and get a licence) very expensive. Thus most stuff existing is in practice not usable

  • For many still computer literacy (and in some regions availability of IT infrastructure) is an issue!

  • The area with most movement seems to be the focus on communities and social networks. Instead of burying materials in databases it is about connecting people who share interest ... I love this.

:-)
